Minion Loving

Ah, the minions. Those cute little yellow critters who make my world go round and round. How I love them! They're not particularly fluffy, but still I think I'm gonna die from too much laughter. They make me so happy just by existing in this cruel world. Yes, the minions can make any crappy day better for me. When I'm feeling down, I just watch minion videos on YouTube and I'm instantly okay. How could it not make me feel better?

With the upcoming release of the sequel to Despicable Me this month, the McDonald's Happy Meal comes with free minion toys! Aaaarrrgh!!!! I want them all!

Even though I'm really a Jollibee girl, I can definitely make room for some McDonald's in my diet. All for the love of minions. To date, I already have six little minion toys, the sources of my daily joy.

At first there was one..

...and then there were four..

..and now they're six!

Miranda Sings

Over the past week, my colleagues at work and I have been obsessed with a viral video of this girl called Miranda who makes videos of herself covering famous songs and acts as though she's a professional singer but the truth is that she is just so terrible and her covers are so off and lousy, which makes it very comical. My friends and I are particularly smitten by this video of hers:

We've been watching it almost every day during our lunch hour and if it were not against company policies to roll on the floor while laughing, we would have done so. It's just too much!

Anyway, I'm enjoying her so much but at the back of my mind I still can't accept that this woman is for real. I mean, it's impossible for somebody to be that clueless, right? So I made my research and it turns out that this is actually just an act, Miranda is just a made-up character. The lady behind the Miranda persona is Colleen Ballinger, a professional singer who initially made Miranda impersonations just to crack up her family and friends, but in the long run Miranda took a life of her own and now has a YouTube channel dedicated to her antics.

Here's another video, this time of Colleen and Miranda together:

Well, even after uncovering the truth that Miranda is fictional, she still makes me want to ROLF!

Happy Fathers Day!

To the greatest man in my life, who raised six children with my mother through their hard work and sacrifices. You may not be perfect, but to me you are amazing, awesome, and will always be the best father I could ever hope for. Thank you, Papang, for everything that I am right now, I owe a significant amount of it to you and Mama. I love you with all my heart, old man!

Papang, for all of us, you're the man!

Awesome Day

I made plans for today to meet up with two dear friends that I haven't seen in such a long time and whom I both miss terribly. But life happened and we had to cancel our Saturdate for them to accommodate other important adult responsibilities (See: Job, Work, Livelihood).

I totally understand, and I'm not the clingy, whiny, annoying type of friend who demands time and attention all the time. But still, I was a bit sad that I won't be seeing them today, plus the fact that the first day of my weekend off from work is now totally devoid of any type of planned activity.

At least, that's what I thought..until I logged into Twitter and saw that some cast members of Glee are in Manila today for a mall tour and promotion for Coca-Cola! I love Glee (except most episodes from season 3), so I dragged my brother to Market! Market! this afternoon to check them out. We got there a few moments before the program ended, and I literally had just a minute (or less) to catch a glimpse of the four Glee stars on stage before they gave their final wave to the fans, headed backstage, and the crowd dispersed.

I was bummed, but then I remembered that there's another reason why I decided to head out to BGC today. There's an ongoing art exhibit at the Fort branch of Fully Booked that I also wanted to check out ever since I heard about it last week. I was thoroughly intrigued by the exhibit's highlight: a painting on a giant stack of books! So me and my brother went to my wonderland, that glorious building at the Bonifacio High Street where a book-lover's fondest dreams could come true. (I am still trying to find out what I need to do--or who I need to bribe--for them to allow me to live there permanently.)

When we got there, the artist was signing autographs and posing for pictures with people. I wanted to also approach him, but I felt awkward and shy so I just took pictures from afar and then I went and said hello to the books.

Afterwards, my brother and I wanted to get some ice cream at the newly opened Coldstone Creamery but the tiny place was jam-packed with customers, so we decided to cap off our Saturday afternoon adventure with some cocoa with rock salt and cheese from Happy Lemon instead.

Glee for Coke at Market! Market and Mike Stilkey's
"Discarded Romance" at Fully Booked, the Fort branch.

It turned out to be a happy day after all!

The Rains of Castamere

Yep.

I'm still reeling from yesterday's episode of Game of Thrones.

And it doesn't help that this song is on a loop and playing non-stop in my head.

Curse you, Lannisters!

What the Fudge!?!

You'd think after reading all five books, I would have known what to expect next. I thought so too.

I wasn't ready for this.

Somebody pick up my jaw from the ground please.

Health is Wealth

So Thursday last week, after dropping off my sister at the airport amid drizzling rain, my body (probably in shock due to the week-long rice deprivation) finally gave in to the elements. I caught the flu and missed the last day of the work week.

Guess what the first thing that Curly Top fed me when he got home on Friday morning was? Arroz Caldo! I couldn't protest after he gave me a stern scolding that I got sick because I wan't eating much in the past few days. (Duh! That's the point of dieting, mister!)

Since I've already temporarily broken the No Rice Policy, I thought, "What the heck? I'm sick and I need to get better, so bring on the rice!" I had rice with all my meals this past weekend. But now, I'm determined to get back on track!

My fav ulam: Ginisang ampalaya with tuna and eggs.
My fav fruit, mango.
My detox drink: Lemon-cucumber-mint water

Good luck to me!
